CAPSULE WARDROBES: WHAT ARE THEY?

I’m betting a quite a few of you out there either don’t know what a Capsule Wardrobe is, or have an idea but are unsure how to create your own. Well, I’m here to help!

So just what is a Capsule Wardrobe and how can it help you be more fashion sustainable? A Capsule Wardrobe is a collection of around thirty of your favourite and most versatile clothing pieces and shoes. Less is more, after all. The idea is that you curate a Capsule Wardrobe for each season, and you mix and match items to create all the outfits you need for that time of year. The key is to pick items you love to where and that work well together. It’s no use including that one out-there top that doesn’t go with anything else that you’ve chosen.

It’s a great way to be more fashion conscious as you limit yourself to a certain number of clothes, and refrain from buying that skirt that you’ll probably only wear once and then throw away. It causes you to invest more time thinking about your purchase decisions. It can also save you money!

Here are some tips to get you started:

  • Think will I wear it more than 30 times?
  • Stick to a versatile colour palette you love – there’s no need to include every colour of the rainbow
  • Choose pieces that work well together
  • Pick things that you feel comfortable and amazing in!

A few of my favourite things to include are: a white T-Shirt, black skinny jeans, a denim skirt, a leather jacket, grey knit jumper, casual sneakers, and a cute pair of black boots. Black, grey, white, and blue denim – that’s what I love!

Have a good at curating your own, and let us know how it goes.
